34 Weeks and still going strong.

Stacy's spirits have been down a bit this week.  She's just getting really tired of being in the hospital, being pregnant, and having to force feed herself even when she's not hungry, just so her blood sugar stays normal.  She's hanging tough though, she's just ready for the babies to come out already!  She's also concerned that since school is starting soon, I'll be at work when she goes into labor, and may not make it to the hospital in time for the babies to be delivered.

If she makes it to 37 weeks that will be the first full week of school when kids are back.  It's a critical time because it sets the pace for the rest of the school year, but I'm just going to have to plan on being out for a while.  Stacy's school has been great, they told her not to worry about anything, that they'll take care of securing a sub and getting the kids off on the right foot.  Of course we want the babies to get as much time in the womb as they need, but I think secretly we're kind of hoping that they'll make their grand appearance during week 35/36 so if I have to I can leave in the middle of the day and only miss out on some of the teacher prep activities going on that week.

Whatever happens, God is in control, and the sequence of events He chooses will be the right one, and I'm sure everything will work out fine.

  1. Fabulous blog Andrew and Stacy! We're so excited for you two...four!
So, kiddos, what is the actual due date of your twins and what day is your official first day back at school with students?
After 34 years in the classroom I am convinced that school and students are resilient and will manage without you. We as teachers think that our presence is crucial, and although it's extremely important, life in the classroom will be okay until you return. Let your fears go, and continue to place your faith in our Father in Heaven...you have much more important matters on your minds.
We hope it's a "smoothie" delivery for apple, banana!
    Keep in touch.
    Love always,
    Auntie Mitch

  2. Well if it was a singleton pregnancy they would be due on Sept 15th but since they're twins, the doc is going to induce at 37 weeks, which is August 25th. First day back to school for the kids is August 22nd so it's the same week lol... I'm sure everything will be fine, but it just sucks to miss the first week of school. But like you said, more important things to worry about!

  3. You will have a "first week" with your students...it will be scheduled at a later time than "normal". Who knows, your students' "first week" experience a second time around could be their best ever! It gives them something to look forward to. Involve them right off the bat with a letter and family photograph. Let your students know the daily progress you, Stacy, and the babies are making. Kids love letters, notes, videos and Skype! They'll be so anxious for your return because you kept them in the loop.
Good luck, and God bless. Give Stacy a hug and kiss from us...and give the boys another raspberry on the belly!
We love you two so much!

  4. You are doing great girl! I know it sucks right now, but this is (and already has) going to go so fast. Before you know it, you will have two fiesty 2-year-old boys on your hands, and you will wish you were back in the hospital on bed rest. lol

Can't wait to come see you this weekend!
